Details:

Spring is the time for new beginnings and youth. The best way to start anew is with learning and of course toys!!! With this in mind, the Barony of Ruantallan would like to invite all teachers and seekers of knowledge to attend our Springtime EKU.

Classes will start at 10:00 am and a schedule will be posted when finalized.

There will be two tourneys taking place, one for the rattan fighters and one for the rapier fighters. They will be Northern Shores version of "Toys for Tots"* tournaments elsewhere in the known world. (This might be the first version in Canada, and is hoped to become a regular tradition.) It will be called "Northern Shores North Pole". In each tourney, the first life is free and if you should lose it, you can buy it back with a toy. You can only buy back a life twice. All toy donations will be donated to the Salvation Army.

* This is not associated with the Toys for Tots campaign, but as stated the toys are going to a recognized charity with a similar result

Attendants are invited to take part in Z's Challange. Rules can be downloaded here.

Remeber if you have any allergies, please include them with your revservation. You can also contact the cook.

The site is Dry.

Menu

1st Course
Split Pea soup, vegetarian but made in traditional style with dried peas, onions, carrots and broth
served with bread and butter

2nd Course
Oatmeal pudding, not vegetarian due to the suet
Divers sallets,  served with dressed eggs...basically a mixed greens salad with dried fruits, pickles, sugar and dressing

3rd Course
Roasted beast with currant sauce, possibly venisen, more likely beef
roasted carrots with butter and spices, vegetarian
Asparagus forced in french rolls
Chicken pye

4th Course
Cheese cakes, which are actually custards
Some additional items, still to be determined

Merchants are most welcome. Please let us know if you require anything in particular and we shall try to accommodate.

Directions:

From outside the barony - Take your best route to Nova Scotia and take Highway 104

From Truro and below - Take the 104 toward New Glasgow (exit 15 from the 102)

Once you are on the 104 take Exit 19 at Salt Springs and travel 5.1 km east on Route 4, turn left at West River and take Route 376 towards Pictou. Travel approximately 10.2 km and watch for the West Pictou High School on the left.
